Wholesale Nursery Process.

The process our wholesale nursery team follows directly influences the success of our high-volume landscaping and re-wholesaling partners. Here are the steps we follow.

Step #1

Research

The first step in our nursery process is researching what’s popular, trending, and going to become popular. Since growing trees doesn’t just happen overnight, our experts often make data-driven decisions years before our customers realize they need the trees. Our goal is to provide our market with the most sought-after tree varieties.

Step #2

Planting & Maintenance

At Hoffman & McNamara, our tree specialists support every last plant with professional care to establish and develop them into thriving, healthy trees. The 3-5 year growing process includes pruning for optimal branch structure, staking for straightness, watering, fertilizing, and pest and disease management.

Step #3

Harvesting

Hoffman & McNamara will select and tag the highest quality trees for your project, or you can schedule a time to visit our nursery to tag the trees yourself. During the digging season we harvest trees at the most opportune time for the health of each variety.

When digging, care is taken to remove soil and leaf litter down to the first lateral root. This, in addition to Hoffman & McNamara’s signature root ball packaging, makes it easier for installers to plant trees efficiently and at the right depth for long-term success.

Step #4

Shipping

Whether you’re purchasing field-direct or from our heel area, our logistics team will help deliver your trees (or work with you on an appropriate pickup). We carefully handle root balls and the tarping of your trees to ensure that everything is prepared to travel safely.
